Production, exports down in Tunisia but optimism remains high

Figures released by Tunisia’s National Office for Oil reveal that olive oil production is expected to reach 100,000 tons this year, which represents a 28.5% decrease compared to the 140,000 tons produced in the 2015/2016 crop year. Off the back the nation’s plant Research and Development Corporations (RDCs) announcing they would unite efforts to strengthen Australian plant biosecurity last month, the partnership has appointed a Chair, implemented a management plan and is in the process of recruiting a program director to oversee operations of the new initiative.
