Crossroads olive growers safe from pests, weather

Weather plays an important role in the success of growing olive trees. Parts of Europe, known for producing much of the world’s olive oil, have experienced weather that has dropped production of the popular cooking oil. Higher than average rainfall and an overabundance of pests have limited the amount olives produced during this year’s harvest, according to major news outlets. Peter McGuill, Victoria County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension agent, said the Crossroads hasn’t seen any problems yet from weather or from pests.
