Five arrested after olive oil brands due to expire ‘were re-labelled’

Five suspects have been arrested for changing production dates on foreign olive oil brands whose expiry dates were about to run out. Police said yesterday that by doing so the suspects could have made over 9 million yuan (US$1.32 million) if they had sold all their stock.

No wonder quality EVOO producers are increasingly adopting high-tech traceability labelling, particularly on export products.
