Small producers triumph at Sydney Royal Olive Oil Competition
Smaller producers once again dominated the results at the 2013 Sydney Royal Olive Oil Competition, where 127 entries saw 74 medals awarded – eight Gold, 20 Silver and 46 Bronze. Moree’s Gwydir Grove Olives took Champion Flavour Infused Olive Oil with their Australian Mandarin Agrumato Olive Oil, repeating their 2011 success. NSW exhibitor East Ridge Olive Grove was a standout performer, taking home both Champion Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oil of Show and Champion Commercial Extra Virgin Olive Oil, while Victoria’s Lisadurne Hill won Champion Boutique Extra Virgin Olive Oil for their Hojiblanca. In the Table Olives classes, SA’s Pendleton Estate gained Champion Olive for their Pendleton Fine Food Wild Table Olives.
