ULM researcher to study impact of olives on cancer

A faculty member of the University of Louisiana-Monroe has been awarded a grant to study the possible cancer-inhibiting quality of olives. The News-Star reports associate professor of pharmacy Khalid El Sayed will get a $420,500 grant from the National Institute of Health. The project will use a natural compound found in extra virgin olive oil and other related natural compounds as possible dietary supplements to control breast cancer and to enhance the therapeutic effects of current anti-cancer drugs.
