Shorter olive crop expected for Tehama County

It is olive picking season and a walk through just about any olive orchard will resonate with the plunk, plunk sound of olives dropping into buckets. Hopefully, this year there will be sufficient labor to pluck the estimated 81,300 tons of green-orbed fruit off trees throughout the state. According to the Olive Growers Council, Northern California will have a shorter crop this year because of heavy production in 2012.
