Olive oil pressing underway in Marlborough

Pressing of the season’s first olive oil has begun for Marlborough growers. About 1500 kilograms of olives from privately owned crops were processed into extra virgin oil on the first day of pressing at the Marlborough Olive Co-Op plant at Riverlands. Processing supervisor Anan Chowfin said this season’s pressing would continue for six to seven weeks with tonnage steadily increasing through the season.
