Final festival: event ends with a successful celebration

The Festival of the Olives ended with a successful celebration on Saturday. Mildura’s large Greek community has celebrated the anniversary of the planting of 13 olive trees by some of the region’s first Greek immigrants back in 1890, for the past three years. After the weekend’s festivities commemorating the role the early Greeks played in the heritage of Mildura, organisers have decided to cease celebrations. The festival celebrated the Greek culture, including food, oil and olive tastings, demonstrations, music and dance.
