Consumer watchdog alleges fraud in olive oil labelling

A study by the consumer rights watchdog Deco of 25 brands of olive oil found that one should not even have been labelled as olive oil, while four that were described as ‘extra-virgin’ should only have borne the description ‘virgin’, the association said this week. In the test, whose results are published in September’s edition of the magazine Deco Proteste, only two of the 25 brands tested were found to be of excellent quality.
