Earlier this year, Taiwan’s intellectual property court sentenced Taiwan billionaire Wei Yin-Chun, 60, to two years in jail. The former chairman of food producer Wei Chuan was convicted of defrauding consumers and violating food safety laws, ordering employees to mix olive oil with lower-value oils and a food-coloring agent. What was sold to consumers as an olive oil product was 98% palm oil.
