130,000 tons of olives targeted

Some 130,000 tons of olives are expected to be produced for packaging and oil production in the current Iranian year (started March 21). Announcing this, Alireza Esmaeili, deputy agriculture jihad minister, said the olive harvest for packaging, which started in Fars, Semnan, Qom and Khuzestan provinces since late August, will continue till October 2 … The official also said 103,000 tons of olives were produced in Iran in the year to March 2012, adding that the figure dropped to 70,000 tons in the year to March 2013.
